Help us make a difference.
The Kibale Health and Conservation Project has finished building
a medical center just inside the main gates of Kibale National Park
in Uganda, providing desperately needed health care for the local
community.
We need your help to make sure that it stays up and running in the years ahead; particularly with regard to staffing the clinic and keeping it stocked with much needed medical supplies.
We realize there are many important projects that
can use your help, but we ask that you consider that in Uganda:
- Life expectancy is only 45 years
- 30% of all deaths among children aged two
to four are caused by malaria, which can be easily treated or prevented
- 26% of children under the age of five are
malnourished
- In the area where we work, the average distance to
the nearest hospital is 15 km
Imagine trying to get your child to the hospital
on a bicycle when he or she is delirious with malaria.
